MASSIVE provides access to a number of high performance computers. M1 and M2 are the original two highly coupled clusters. M3 is the new high performance computer being commissioned using cloud technology.

M1 at Australian Synchrotron

  • 42 nodes (504 CPU-cores total) in one configuration:
    1. 42 nodes with 12 cores per node running at 2.66GHz
      • 48 GB RAM per node (2,016 GB RAM total)
      • 2 nVidia M2070 GPUs with 6GB GDDR5 per node (84 GPUs total)
  • 153 TB of fast access parallel file system
  • 4x QDR Infiniband Interconnect

M2 at Monash University

  • 118 nodes (1,720 CPU-cores total) in four configurations:
    1. 32 nodes with 12 cores per node running at 2.66GHz
      • 48 GB RAM per node (1,536 GB RAM total)
    2. 10 nodes with 12 cores per node (visualisation / high memory configuration)
      • 192 GB RAM per node (1,920 GB RAM total)
    3. 56 nodes with 16 cores per node running at 2.66GHz
      • 64 GB RAM per node (3,584 GB RAM total)
    4. 20 nodes with 16 cores per node running at 2.66GHz
      • 128 GB RAM per node (2,560 GB RAM total)
  • 244 GPUs (total ~250,000 CUDA cores)
    1. 76 NVIDIA K20 GPU-coprocessors
    2. 20 NVIDIA M2070Q’s (Vis)
    3. 148 NVIDIA M2070’s GPU-coprocessors
  • 20 Intel Phi’s (1200 cores)
  • 345 TB of fast access parallel file system
  • 4x QDR Infiniband Interconnect

M3 at Monash University

  • 68 nodes (1,632 CPU-cores with 2 x Intel Xeon E5-2680 v3 2.50GHz per node) with the following configurations:
    • 40 x Dell PowerEdge C6320 "Compute" nodes
      • 24 with 128GB RAM per node
      • 16 with 256GB RAM per node
    • 25 x Dell PowerEdge R730 "GPU" nodes
      • 18* with 256GB RAM per node and 2x Tesla K80 GPUs
      • 4 with 128GB RAM per node and 2x Grid K1 GPUs
      • 3 with 128GB RAM per node (GPU slots available for future expansion)
    • 3 x Dell PowerEdge C4130 "High Density GPU" nodes
      • 3 with 256GB RAM per node and 4 x Tesla K80 GPUs
    • 1.15 petabyte Lustre parallel file system ~24GB/s read ~18GB/s write
    • 100 Gb/s Ethernet Mellanox Spectrum network
