Avizo (http://www.vsg3d.com/avizo/overview) is a tool for processing, analysing and visualising scientific data, and provides particular support for processing 3D data sets in materials science, geosciences, environmental and engineering applications. MASSIVE has purchased a licence for Avizo which is being used through the MASSIVE Desktop by researchers in a wide range of fields including anatomy, palaeontology, engineering, materials science and science.
MASSIVE has organised two Avizo Training days that will be hosted at Monash University.

OzViz was first held in 2001, and is the premier annual workshop for visualisation practitioners, academics and researchers from across Australia and New Zealand. The workshop provides an opportunity for participants to present research outcomes, share innovative ideas, learn new techniques, publicise work and meet colleagues. It is a multidisciplinary event, with participants typically from a broad range of fields such as mathematics, geoscience, architecture, biology, medicine and astronomy presenting alongside computer graphics and visualisation experts.

The International Workshop on OpenMP (IWOMP) is an annual workshop dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of parallel programming with OpenMP. It is the premier forum to present and discuss issues, trends, recent research ideas and results related to parallel programming with OpenMP. The international workshop affords an opportunity for OpenMP users as well as developers to come together for discussions and sharing new ideas and information on this topic.
The workshop will be held on 16th - 18th September 2013 at the Australian National University in Canberra. Reduced registration rates are being offered for NCI or MASSIVE users.

Before attempting this intermediate course, familiarity is required with the introductory course. If you are not it is recommended that you have some revision first, because many of the concepts contained in this course are quite advanced and depend on a thorough knowledge of the beginner's course.
At the end of this course you will be able to use Linux tools to automate job submission and post processing, as well as how to make optimal use of the MASSIVE system.

The introduction to HPC and Linux at MASSIVE is designed to cater for a wide range of computer skill sets; we'll provide an introduction to MASSIVE itself, what hardware and software we have installed, how to use our helpdesk system, the Linux environment, secure file transfers, file editing and manipulation, environment modules, and the Portable Batch System (PBS).
At the end of this course you will be able to submit basic jobs to the MASSIVE HPC system.

The CXS developed public access NADIA software is a flexible package that contains well-tested libraries that make it easier for researchers to access and implement various Coherent Diffractive Imaging (CDI) algorithms on data.
This workshop is open to any researcher interested in using this software package. The first of two workshops, this beginner's session is sponsored by MASSIVE at the Australian Synchrotron. Registration is required and closes 10th July 2013.
