The OzViz and ACW program of presentations

We cordially invite you to participate in OzViz 2013 on the 9th and 10th of December 2013 and hosted by MASSIVE, CSIRO and Monash eResearch Centre in Clayton, Victoria, and the Accelerated Computing Workshop (ACW) 2013 which will be held at the same location on the afternoon of 10th December.

OzViz Workshop

OzViz was first held in 2001, and is the premier annual workshop for visualisation practitioners, academics and researchers from across Australia and New Zealand. The workshop provides an opportunity for participants to present research outcomes, share innovative ideas, learn new techniques, publicise work and meet colleagues. It is a multidisciplinary event, with participants typically from a broad range of fields such as mathematics, geoscience, architecture, biology, medicine and astronomy presenting alongside computer graphics and visualisation experts.

The main part of the workshop will be held in the Monash New Horizons building which houses the Monash CAVE2 facility. Participants will have an opportunity to tour the facility. For information about this facility, please see here; and an article in The Age.

We encourage participants to present and share a range of work such as on-going research, works-in-progress, visualisation breakdowns, student projects and finished projects. The format of the workshop will be presentations, of 20 minutes each including five minutes for questions.

Visualisation Exhibition

In addition to talks and presentations, attendees are invited to participate in this year’s Visualisation Exhibition. The exhibition offers a unique venue to showcase cutting-edge digital work in both digital and physical form.

Participants have three options for submission:

  • Render a movie for display in the Monash CAVE2 Facility. Technical specifications for the CAVE2 are available here:
  • Submit images to be exhibited during the workshop.
  • Submit a 3D print to be exhibited during the workshop.

The committee will choose the most visually inspiring and insightful works.

Co-located Events - Accelerated Computing Workshop (ACW)

This year's OzViz program will include an Accelerated Computing Workshop on the afternoon of Tuesday 10th December at Monash Khronos Group 300University with invited speakers and live demonstrations discussing compute-oriented technologies (OpenCL, CUDA, etc) and hardware architectures (GPUs, APUs, MIC, etc). The ACW invites all developers, researchers and academics in the community to join us and participate! Speakers from both industry and academia will discuss a range of subjects, including core fundamentals, hardware architectures, parallel programming, as well as workload scheduling and device specific optimizations.

Submissions for the ACW, OzViz and Visualisation Exhbition have now closed.

The OzViz and ACW schedule is now available.

Registration for OzViz and the ACW closed on 4th December 2013.
